Be the expert your clients need. How can you design resilient sites to handle the complex problems your clients are facing over the next few decades? Evidence-based design provides the best approach, and the challenge is finding the evidence you need. The design professions implement site solutions on a daily basis, but the cutting edge research you need to make the best decisions for your client is not always easy to access.
Learn to bring primary scientific research into your site design practice. It can take years for scientific research to filter into the daily practice of designers, and you can shorten that time frame by staying up to date with the research and visualizing the big picture implications of it to your work.
New challenges require new approaches, but it doesn't help to guess at what those approaches need to be. Researchers are actively seeking answers to problems like carbon sequestration, urban heat island effect, ground water recharge, etc., and you can serve your clients best by staying on top of that research and incorporating it into your design practice.
The webinar is 50 minutes long and focuses on practical, actionable steps that all site designers can take to bring cutting-edge evidence-based design into their practice.
1. Articulate why it’s crucial for sustainable designers to stay on top of current scientific research
2. Establish a process to stay up-to-date on current research and apply it to sustainable design practice
3. Encourage designers to read up on multiple disciplines
4. Assess the options available to find current cutting edge research results related to sustainable design
